Climate Resiliance
Water Security Solutions for Coastal California
California — Water Crisis
Known for hot temperatures and low precipitation, California’s mediterranean climate is extremely drought prone. A large portion of our water supply as a state comes from snow melt in the Sierra Nevadas.
Climate change is causing our global temperatures to rise.
The Sierra Nevada snow melt, that was once a sufficient water source for California, is melting too fast.
These conditions have restricted California’s water supply: leaving California more susceptible to wildfires, home water scarcity, and agricultural impact.
What is Fog?
Scientifically labeled the "stratus cloud”, fog is a type of cloud that resides closest to the Earth’s surface, holding extremely high levels of moisture through water droplets. Coastal fog forms when warm moist air and cold air meet at the surface of the ocean. California’s foggiest season occurs during the months of June through September. This happens to align with the season that California is most susceptible to drought conditions.
Our Products
This is the garden bed fog collector! These garden beds are built with sustainable and attractive bamboo planks that are both sturdy and durable. The large nets intercept the fine droplets in the air, collecting them and allowing them to drip down into the garden bed below. Our research team has discovered that these collectors are able to yeild significant amounts of water.
